OX2 signs 43 MW wind farm construction deal in Finland Wind turbine in Finland. Author: pikkuanna.

Swedish renewables developer OX2 has been selected for the construction and asset transfer of the 43- MW Korkeakangas wind farm in Karstula, central Finland.

OX2 will be constructing the wind farm as part of an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract. Once the wind farm is commissioned at the end of 2021, OX2 will also be entrusted with responsibility for the technical and commercial management of the asset.

OX2 is currently constructing more than 1 GW of wind power in the Nordic region, 211 MW of which is in Finland. Korkeakangas is its fifth wind power project in collaboration with Germany-based investment manager Aquila Capital.

The latter acquired the Korkeakangas in December through Aquila European Renewables Income Fund plc (LON:AERS).

The wind farm will be equipped with nine Nordex wind turbines, model N149 4.8 MW, with a total height up to 230 metres.

Annual output is estimated at of about 140 GWh per year, corresponding to electricity consumption for approximately 28,000 households (5,000 kWh / household). The project is being constructed without government subsidies and will most probably rely on corporate power purchase agreements (PPA).
