Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTPakistan has pushed back the bidding date for the privatisation of a 100-MW solar park in Punjab province amid an ongoing investigation into certain irregularities with the project company.
The Punjab Privatisation Board (PPB) has informed pre-qualified bidders that it will set a new submission date for the bidding process “in due course”. Local media point at ongoing investigations by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) as a possible reason for the delay.
The planned bidding process concerns the Quaid-e-Azam plant, which is held by state-owned company Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power (Pvt) Ltd (QASPL). The facility in Bhawalpur district has been operational since 2015.
The parties interested in the asset were supposed to submit proposals by April 9 and the financial offers were expected 10 days later.
