Palestine to launch 110 MW of solar tenders - report

Palestine will next week launch solar power tenders targeting 110 MW of capacity, UAE daily newspaper The National reported today, citing Palestinian energy minister Omar Kittaneh.

The tenders will involve solar projects of 10 MW for each of the 11 governorates which will be connected to the grid over the coming four years.

This is one of several initiatives being released this year as Palestine is shifting focus to renewables to tackle unreliable energy imports and save money, according to the article.

A further 35 MW of solar capacity is planned to be installed under a net metering system. Of that, 25 MW are reserved for businesses and the remaining 10 MW for the residential and private sectors.

Kittaneh was speaking at a Clean Energy Business Council event in Dubai on Monday.
