The electricity produced by more than 1,200 solar panels will be supplied to the plant under a power purchase agreement (PPA) between the two companies.
The project will help MTQ reduce its carbon emissions by 14,083 metric tonnes which is equivalent to taking more than 3,000 cars off the roads.
“Reducing our carbon footprint is important to MTQ. This collaboration with Pavilion Energy represents our third facility to have installed solar panels following two earlier in Singapore. We continue to look to reduce our carbon footprint through exploring renewable sources of energy,” said MTQ's chief executive Kuah Boon Wee.
Bahrain-based Pavilion Energy specialises in generating clean power from wind and solar energy as well as through waste-to-energy solutions.
