Peru will witness the start of operation of around 507 MW of renewables capacity by the end of 2024 with the grid connection of two solar and two wind farms, the ministry of energy and mining said on Thursday.

These projects, which have brought a combined investment of over USD 530 million (EUR 491.6m), will be located in the regions of Ica, Arequipa, and Moquegua.

The first of the four, the Clemesi solar farm in Moquegua, has already begun commercial operation, boasting an installed capacity of 114.93 MW with an investment of USD 95.3 million.

The 80-MW Matarani solar farm, involving an investment of USD 84.8 million, is currently under construction in Arequipa.

The next in line will be the 177-MW Wayra Extension wind farm project in Ica, which requires an investment of USD 222.5 million. Lastly, the San Juan wind project also in Ica, with an investment of over USD 129 million, will add 135.7 MW to the system, the energy ministry said.
