Sep 19, 2024 8:42 CESTThe renewable arm of Polish utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna (WSE:PGE) said it will develop 100 MW of wind and photovoltaic (PV) projects as well as energy storage facilities in the southeastern Podkarpackie province.
PGE Energia Odnawialna signed an agreement with the city of Stalowa Wola and investment park Euro-Park Stalowa Wola to locate the facilities on their area, the company said on Thursday. The green energy produced will be used by the local residents and the companies operating in Euro-Park Stalowa Wola and the Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone.
According to the initial plans, PGE Group will have over 70 hectares of land to start next year the construction of solar power plants with a total capacity of 70 MW. Furthermore, seven wind turbines of up to 4 MW each, a service centre and 30 MWh of energy storage facilities will be added.
Euro-Park Stalowa Wola is an area of 1,000 hectares, designated for projects related to modern technologies in energy, electromobility, transport, hydrogen, aviation and the automotive sector.
The Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone, spanning 35 districts in the Podkarpackie, Lubelskie and Mazowieckie provinces, was set up in 1997 to speed up the economic activities of the region by attracting investments, developing exports and creating new jobs. In this area, PGE is already developing the PV Jeziorko project, which in 2024 is seen to reach a capacity of 153 MW.
PGE Energia Odnawialna is currently the largest producer of green energy in Poland with a total installed capacity of 2,433 MW. It has 20 wind farms, 29 hydropower plants, four pumped-storage facilities and 24 solar parks.
