Phoenix Solar gets orders in Italy

Sep 12, 2011 - German photovoltaic technology company Phoenix Solar AG (ETR:PS4) announced today its Italian unit received several orders from customers in Italy for the construction of new solar plants.

Two solar installations with a maximum a capacity of 1.7 MW and 1 MW, respectively, have been ordered by an independent electric utility. Phoenix Solar will install in the plants modules manufactured by US First Solar (NASDAQ:FSLR).

In addition, the company will construct a 1 MW solar farm for an Italian investor, using modules of another US manufacturer, MiaSole.

The Italian division of Phoenix Solar also signed a contract for the construction of a rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 227 KW, which is to be finished and connected to the grid before the end of 2011.

However, the company did not reveal any financial details on the matter.

Phoenix Solar's sales manager, Ulrich Reidenbach, noted that all the power plants which the company had constructed in Italy until August 31, 2011 were connected to the grid.
