Jordan Green agrees land deal for solar-powered green ammonia hub
Sep 20, 2024 5:52 CESTRooftop solar systems with a combined capacity of 35 MW will be installed at 500 public schools in Palestine, the Palestine Investment Fund (PIF), which has been selected as developer of the project, said Tuesday.
An agreement for the project has been struck this week between the fund and the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE). The total investment will be around USD 35 million (EUR 29m) over four years.
Under the Noor Palestine programme, there are also 25 MW of solar parks under development in Jericho and other sites. These and the solar schools project fit into a plan to increase the use of renewable energy in Palestine. Led by Massader, PIF’s impact investment arm for energy and infrastructure, Noor Palestine aims to reduce dependence on energy imports and strengthen Palestine’s energy security.
