Fred. Olsen Seawind and EDF Renewables are set make next week a filing with the local planning authority An Bord Pleanala for the 1.3-GW Codling Wind Park project off the Irish coast.

The planning application is the result of over 15 years of data gathering and site investigations, both onshore and offshore, which included geophysical, aerial and vessel-based surveys, a press statement said today.

A planning notice for the project is being published in local papers in Wicklow and Dublin and will be included in a national newspaper on Friday.

The Codling Wind Park will be built 13-22 kilometres (8-14 mi) off the County Wicklow coast between Greystones and Wicklow Town. The project underwent several revisions over the years.

The planning application gives two design options, either installing 68 turbines with a tip height of 314 metres, or 75 machines with a tip height of 288 metres.

The project proposes three underwater export cables of about 40 to 50 kilometers, connecting the offshore substations to landfall on the Poolbeg peninsula in Dublin Bay. There will be one 220-kV onshore substation and grid connection cables which will be located on the Poolbeg peninsula.
