Eni Plenitude SpA said it has signed a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with Italian steel rebar producer Ferriera Valsabbia, linking the contract and the related electricity supply to a 15-MW wind farm in southern Italy.

Under the PPA, Ferriera Valsabbia will procure the entire output generated by a Plenitude-owned wind farm in Sannicandro di Bari, Apulia region.

The Italian renewable power producer and retailer will supply the wind energy for ten years starting from September 2024. The wind farm is expected to be able to generate over 350 GWh over the supply period, Eni Plenitude said.

Odolo-based Ferriera Valsabbia manufactures rebar from scrap iron by melting it an electric arc furnace. The PPA will enable it to increase renewable energy consumption and further reduce its environmental impact, according to Eni Plenitude.

Plenitude, for its part, aims to reach over 8 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2027 and over 15 GW by 2030.
