Singapore lines up 1.4 GW of solar imports from Indonesia, ups goal
Sep 06, 2024 12:53 CESTIndonesian state-owned power company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has kicked off production of green hydrogen at what it says is the first facility of its kind in its home country.
The production plant was opened at an inauguration ceremony held on Monday, PLN said in a press statement.

Located within the site of the Muara Karang gas-fired power plant in Jakarta, the new facility is expected to produce around 51 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually via electrolysis. The process, estimated to require 2.8 GWh of electricity per year, will be powered by solar photovoltaic (PV) panels.
PLN noted that the project supports Indonesia’s clean energy ambitions and efforts to devise a national hydrogen strategy, expected to be finalised this year. The state-owned company added its future plans include developing facilities that will store the green hydrogen output for later use.
