PLT Energia buys 10-MW wind plant in southern Italy

Oct 7, 2014 - Italy's renewable energy holding group PLT Energia SpA (BIT:PLTE) said Tuesday it has acquired from Spanish renewables group Ecoener a planned 10-MW wind power plant in southern Italy, which is expected to take EUR 15 million (USD 19m) investments.

Works on the facility, planned to rise in Langricello in Calabria's municipality Torre di Ruggiero, are expected to start in November 2014. The plant will be put on stream in June 2015 and will benefit from a feed-in tariff of EUR 109.83 per MWh for 20 years, PLT Energia said.

The new wind plant, which will have five turbines, will produce more than 23.4 GWh annually capable of meeting the energy needs of 10,000 local households and avoiding the emission of more than 7,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.

PLT Energia expects to raise its annual revenues by EUR 2.4 million and the earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) by some EUR 1.9 million once the plant begins full-capacity production.
