Wind farms developer PNE AG (ETR:PNE3) has sold a 59.4-MW wind farm being repowered in northwestern Germany to Spain’s Qualitas Energy.

The Papenrode wind farm is located in the municipalities of Groß Twülpstedt and Bahrdorf in Lower Saxony and is expected to go live in the second quarter of 2025.

Planning for the Papenrode wind farm started in 2016 and it originally had 15 turbines. Following the repowering, the site will host nine turbines which will generate five times the output of the replaced ones.

“We are pleased that we can hand over this high-quality project to an investor turnkey-ready,” PNE's chief executive Per Hornung Pedersen noted.

The acquisition expands Qualitas Energy’s portfolio, which currently houses more than 11 GW of assets in operation and under development across Spain, Germany, the UK, Italy, Poland and Chile.
