Poland's Ministry of Development and Technology said on Wednesday it will introduce a programme for co-financing 50% of the investments in photovoltaic installations on multi-family buildings, allocating PLN 500 million (USD 114m/EUR 108m) for the purpose.

The grant will cover the purchase and the construction of an installation or the modernisation of an existing one as well as supporting equipment such as energy storage and heat pumps. Cooperatives and housing communities will be able to apply for it from February 1, the ministry added.

The programme will increase the proportion of renewable energy in domestic consumption, which is important for ensuring energy security amid the sector crisis triggered by the attack on Ukraine, minister Waldemar Buda said.

Since 2017 Poland has seen a dynamic increase in the share of distributed energy from micro-installation, mainly photovoltaic ones, which counted over 1.2 million at the end of June, the ministry noted.
