Polish utility Tauron Polska Energia SA (WSE:TPE) said today it has put into operation its 58.5-MW wind farm in Mierzyn, the West Pomeranian province.

The farm's 15 turbines, of 3.9 MW each, are expected to generate 160 GWh annually, meeting the energy demand of 68,000 households and offsetting the emission of 140,000 tonnes of CO2. The company started work on the farm in March last year.

The launch of its 12th wind farm has increased Tauron's onshore capacity to 506 MW, said Michał Orłowski, vice-president of the management board.

By the end of 2024, Tauron plans to commission two more wind farms – Warblewo of 30 MW and Gamow of 33 MW. It is also building another three onshore facilities – Miejska Gorka of 190 MW, Sieradz of 24 MW and Nowa Brzeznica of 20 MW.

In addition, Tauron is working on three solar photovoltaic farms with a total capacity of 199 MW. The group also has 34 hydroelectric power plants.
