Qair inks 180-GWh wind, solar PPA with Freudenberg unit in Poland
Sep 03, 2024 15:11 CESTFrench independent renewable power producer Qair said on Tuesday it has signed a 15-year renewable power purchase agreement (PPA) with Polish convenience retailer Zabka Polska Sp. z o.o.
Under the contract, Qair will supply the retail company with a total of almost 1.7 TWh of power from a wind farm and a large-scale solar farm.

The PPA will help Zabka Group reduce its emissions, as well as stabilise costs and become more independent from electricity market movements.
“For another year in a row, 100% of electricity that we consumed for our own purposes came from renewable energy sources,” said Zabka Group vice president Adam Manikowski. “We are extending this approach to the more than 9,500 Zabka shops operated by our franchisees throughout Poland. More than 57% of the electricity consumed in them comes from renewable sources, that is, generated by in-house solar energy systems or covered by guarantees of origin,” the executive explained.
The news comes on the heels of an announcement in June that Zabka Polska will buy power from 65 MW of solar parks.
Qair, meanwhile, said that in the past six months Qair Polska has sealed corporate PPAs representing nearly 4 TWh of green energy volume from 2023 to 2038. Next year, Qair Polska will sell more than 300 GWh of electricity under corporate PPAs.
