Madrid-based green hydrogen projects developer DH2 Energy announced on Wednesday that its up-to-75-MW VVR Green renewable hydrogen project has earned the Potential National Interest (PIN) status in Portugal.

The advanced development is a two-phase project in Vila Velha de Rodao, in Castelo Branco, where DH2 Energy plans to initially install a 35-MW electrolyser and a 49-MWp captive solar photovoltaic (PV) plant. In the second phase, the facilities will be expanded to 75 MW of electrolysis capacity and 100 MWp of solar power.

VVR Green is expected to produce 1,650 tonnes per year of green hydrogen in its first phase.

In Portugal, being granted the PIN status is a prerequisite for leveraging streamlined procedures and shorter implementation periods.
