Power Construction Corporation of China (SHA:601669) and Serbian firm AVR Solar Park Istok have partnered to build a solar farm of up to 150 MW in the town of Bela Palanka, south-eastern Serbia, the municipal government has announced.

In a press release on Friday, the Bela Palanka municipal authority said that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the companies in relation to the solar project.

Construction of the solar farm is anticipated to begin in 2024, once the permitting is finalised. The investors have plans to realise further projects in the area with a capacity of up to 500 MW, the release states.

The municipality of Bela Palanka was chosen due to a high number of sunlight hours in a year and the municipal support for the project, Milica Andric, who signed the MoU on behalf of AVR Solar Park Istok, was quoted as saying.
