Powerhouse, Wrightbus sign MoU on hydrogen partnership

UK waste-to-energy firm Powerhouse Energy Group plc (LON:PHE) said today it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that could see it produce hydrogen for fuel buses made by Wrightbus Ltd.

Powerhouse wants to develop hydrogen production from waste plastic and used tyres. The non-binding MoU with Wrightbus, whose offerings include hydrogen powered buses, is expected to translate into a definitive deal, under which Wrightbus will supply hydrogen buses and Powerhouse will provide access to its Distributed Modular Gasification (DMG) system for hydrogen production, the company said. The turnkey solution will be offered to local authorities and public transport providers in the UK and abroad.

Powerhouse says its DMG system could enable local hydrogen production from small-scale plastic processing plants. According to the company, the cost would be competitive with petrol and diesel.
