Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTFinnish consulting and engineering firm Poyry Plc (HEL:POY1V) said today it has secured an owner's engineer services assignment for a 54-MW hydropower plant (HPP) project in Laos.
The order came from local firm Chaleun Sekong Energy Co Ltd (CSE), a unit of Chaleun Sekong Group, and was booked in the second half of 2017. Financial details were not provided.
Under the contract, Poyry will assist in project management, design and design review and will also perform site supervision services for the Nam Kong 3 project in Attapeu province, southeastern Laos. The company said it has already completed the initial river diversion works.
The site quarry and crusher system at the complex were put on stream at the end of May. The project, itself, includes design, civil works and installation of a Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) dam, spillway, plunge pool, headrace tunnel, powerhouse tailrace channel and switchyard and a new transmission line.
The Nam Kong 3 complex is scheduled for completion by May 2020, Poyry said.
Construction of the HPP is in line with Laos’ goal to have 12,500 MW of power generation capacity by 2020, seen to solve power shortage issues and provide permanent access to electricity to around 95% of the country’s households.
