The renewables joint venture of Profine Group, a German manufacturer of PVC profiles for windows and doors, is looking for opportunities in Southeastern Europe and is currently working on solar projects in Serbia and Bosnia in addition to a previously-unveiled plan in Bulgaria.

The group's owner and CEO, Peter Mrosik, said at a news conference on Tuesday, as quoted by sister publication SeeNews, that Profine Energy GmbH is developing a 450-MW solar-plus-storage plant in Serbia and a 100-MW project in Bosnia.

The German group intends to use the output of the proposed Serbian solar park to cover its own power consumption and to supply third-parties. It expects to build even more plants in order to ensure supply for all its sites across Europe.

Last summer, Profine's CEO met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to discuss the company's plan to establish a new production site along with an adjacent photovoltaic (PV) system.

Meanwhile, Profine Energy, which was set up jointly by the PVC profiles maker and Wirth Gruppe, is considering spending some EUR 25 million (USD 26.3m) on the construction of a facility in Montana, northwestern Bulgaria, for the production of floaters, Mrosik told SeeNews.

In December, Profine Energy entered into a non-binding letter of intent (LoI) in connection with a EUR-1-billion plan to build a huge floating solar park at the Ogosta reservoir near Montana. The floater factory, for which it is currently conducting a feasibility study, will facilitate equipment supply to the group's projects in Southeast Europe and beyond, Mrosik has pointed out.

The floating solar project could be completed around 2028, according to him.
