Kibo Energy seeks to buy 20-GW renewables pipeline in Europe, Africa
Sep 16, 2024 17:21 CESTAccess Power announced on Wednesday that three projects in Tanzania, Rwanda and Ghana are the winners of this year’s USD-7-million (EUR 6.3m) Access Co-Development Facility (ACF) competition.
The 30-MW Kondoa solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Tanzania, the 48-MW Winneba wind scheme in Ghana and the 9.7-MW Rukarara hydropower project in Rwanda will share the prize. They will also receive technical support and will benefit from Access Power’s expertise.
The three winners were among five shortlisted developers that presented their projects in Copenhagen on Wednesday. They came from a technologically and geographically diverse pool of 82 entrants from 23 countries.
Both Access Power and its partner, independent power producer EREN Renewable Energy, will take minority stakes in the three projects.
Access Power noted that this year’s competition was dominated by solar projects and saw a high number of applications from countries with low levels of electrification.
