World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CESTJul 14, 2011 - The electricity generated by German photovoltaic (PV) power plants in 2010 was enough to offset a total of 6.4 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, the Bundestag, Germany's lower house of parliament, reported today.
However, a forecast on the amount of CO2 emissions to be offset by PV power plants cannot be made at this point as it depends on the speed of expansion locations in the different countries and on the changes in their energy mix, the Bundestag reported.
According to Germany's Renewable Energy Act, 14% of the energy consumption for heating and cooling should be covered by renewable energy sources.
