European renewables developer Q Energy said today that it has begun construction of a 52-MWp solar project in the Spanish region of Extremadura.

The site, dubbed Cabrovales 1, will include more than 96,000 modules equipped with a tracker system. Once commissioned, expected in 2025, the facility will be capable of powering 27,000 homes annually.

Cabrovales 1 will be located in the municipality of Fuente de Cantos in the province of Badajoz, covering an area of 100 hectares.

“The Cabrovales project is currently our sixth construction site in Spain, with many more green power plants to follow. We are currently developing a pipeline of over 6 GW of solar projects across the country, which will go into construction successively over the coming months and years,” Eduardo de la Hera, head of development in Iberia at Q Energy, noted in the press statement.
