Qatar Petroleum to back 60-MW Djibouti wind project - report

Jun 24, 2013 - Qatar Petroleum International (QPI) and Electricity of Djibouti intend to partner on a wind project of 60 MW in the Republic of Djibouti, in the Horn of Africa, Qatari newspaper The Peninsula said Sunday.

The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Doha on June 20, the daily said. The deal, a result of an earlier official Qatari visit to Djibouti, is seen as a step towards increased cooperation between Qatar and the African country.

The report did not provide further details on the wind project.

Electricity of Djibouti is a public-owned industrial and commercial entity focused on renewables.
