Solar products maker Qcells, a unit of Seoul-based Hanwha Solutions Corp (KRX:009830), has hired industrial contractor Gray to design and build its new solar panel factory in Cartersville, Georgia.

Gray announced this on Tuesday, saying that it was also contracted to add one more building to Qcells’ existing campus in Dalton. The same company was responsible for the design and construction of that particular facility in 2019.

Earlier this month, Qcells announced it was proceeding with an investment of over USD 2.5 billion (EUR 2.3bn) in the construction of an industrial complex for the production of solar ingots, wafers, cells and modules in Bartow County, and the expansion of the Dalton plant.

These two projects are expected to boost the company’s total solar panel production capacity in Georgia to 8.4 GW by the end of 2024.
