Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTFrench renewable energy company Quadran International last week said it has received the notice of intended award for a 5-MW floating solar power facility from the government of the Seychelles.
A consortium including Quadran's local unit and Seychelles solar company VetiverTech won the project in a tender launched in 2018.
The floating solar array, to be installed on the lagoon of Providence on Mahe island, will be the world's biggest seawater floating solar system, according to the statement. It will also be the first independent power producer-led project in the Seychelles.
The companies expect to sign a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) next month. The solar system is due to be commissioned by the end of the year.
