Solar project developer and operator ReneSola Ltd (NYSE:SOL) said today that its inaugural independent power producer (IPP) project in Hungary with a capacity of 10.2 MWp has reached commercial operation.

The project is called Csomad 1-2 and comprises two photovoltaic (PV) parks that can produce enough electricity to meet the daily demand of around 4,000 homes.

Since ReneSola set foot in the Hungarian market five years ago, the company has commissioned 72 feed-in tariff (FIT) solar power plants with a combined capacity of about 42 MW. According to Josef Kastner, CEO of ReneSola Power Europe, Hungary as a market is a critical part of the firm’s expansion strategy.

The group CEO, Yumin Liu, added that ReneSola has also successfully developed more than 100 MW of projects to the shovel-ready stage and is actively building half of that portfolio.
