North Macedonia's government said that local energy companies Renewable Power International and Hec Solar plan to build photovoltaic (PV) power plants in the eastern part of the country.

Renewable Power International will invest 63 million euro ($71.3 million) in the construction of a 85 MW solar power plant in Karbinci municipality, the government said in a press release earlier this week.

Hec Solar plans to build a 70 MW PV power plant valued at an estimated 53 million euro in Pehcevo municipality.

The government noted it has decided to assign the status of strategic investment to the two projects.
