Brazil's power sector regulator Aneel announced on Thursday that the country added 7,007.4 MW of new solar and wind power capacity in the first ten months of the year, representing 89.8% of the 7,799.1 MW total.

Looking at just October, the country put into operation 639.3 MW of new power capacity, of which wind power accounted for more than half with 371.6 MW installed across 16 sites. Solar parks added 246.2 MW of capacity to the grid.

At the end of October, Brazil had 195,718.1 MW of power generation capacity in operation, of which 83.8% comes from renewable energy.
