Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTRenewables accounted for 73.6% of Guatemala’s power mix in the sixth week (February 3-9) of 2019, according to the country’s state power regulator Comision Nacional de Energia Electrica (CNEE).
There was an increase in biomass power generation, which produced 41.3% of Guatemala's electricity during the week.

In the first weeks of 2018, the share of renewables dropped below 70% just once. That happened in the second week of the year, when renewables were responsible for 69.95% of the total output.
During the final week of 2018, the renewables share peaked at 80.22%, according to the CNEE.
A report by the Guatemalan energy ministry states that 61.74% of generated electricity came from the renewable sources in the whole of 2018, down from 69.89% a year earlier.
