KKR fund increases tender offer price for Greenvolt
Sep 19, 2024 15:32 CESTPortugal's renewable energy plants generated enough electricity to meet 67% of the country's power demand in October, national grid operator Redes Energeticas Nacionais (REN) said last week.
The positive result was due to the very favourable conditions for hydropower and wind power production. Wind alone had a new historical high delivering 4,843 MW to the local grid in October as well as a daily production of 108 GWh.
According to REN's data, conventional energy sources comprised 17% of the Iberian country's electricity consumption last month, with imports accounting for the remaining 16%.
Since the beginning of the year, renewables have satisfied 56% of the Portuguese power needs. Wind energy contributed 24%, hydropower 18%, solar photovoltaic (PV) 8%, and biomass 6%.
