Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTRenewables accounted for 38.33% of Guatemala’s power in July, a negligible increase from 38.29% registered in June, according to the monthly report by the country's National Electric Energy Commission (CNEE).
During the month, renewables were largely represented by hydro power which occupied a 31.04% share. The share of wind power generation went up to 3.16% in July from 1.56% the month earlier. Solar and geothermal power generation slightly picked up in July holding a 1.86% and 2.18% share, respectively.
Bagasse cogeneration, Guatemala’s renewable energy staple during the sugarcane harvest season which this year ended in May, disappeared from the July power mix after declining to a 1.34% share the previous month.
All systems together, along with the interconnection with Mexico, produced 1,049 GWh.
