Estonia's Enefit completes one wind project, starts another
Sep 06, 2024 10:27 CESTPoland-based Respect Energy Capital Group on Tuesday unveiled plans to build a 820-MW offshore floating wind farm off the coast of Estonia.
Planned to be located within the Wind Energy Innovation Area in the Baltic Sea, the complex should become operational in 2032, with its annual output estimated to be around 3.75 TWh.
Polish offshore project developer BaltiConnect will be Respect Energy’s partner in the scheme, which also envisages the installation of a pilot station where green hydrogen and ammonia will be produced. The facility will be installed on platforms in proximity to two of the wind farm’s turbines.
Respect Energy Holding has already secured preliminary connection conditions and signed cooperation agreements with Estonian parties to set up a local supply chain. A collaboration arrangement is also in place with the Port of Tallinn, enabling the use of port infrastructure facilities for assembly activities and the operation of the wind farm.
Estonian shipbuilding contractor LTH-Baas will be in charge of installing the wind turbines and infrastructure required for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia.
Operating in 24 markets, Respect Energy is focused on the production, supply and sale of renewable power, mainly from wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) parks. The company is part of a consortium that in the summer proposed to build a 5-GW offshore wind farm off the coast of Victoria, in Australia’s first declared offshore wind zone.
