The first turbine has been installed at the 704-MW Revolution Wind project, Rhode Island and Connecticut's first large-scale offshore wind farm, Danish clean energy company Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED) said on Tuesday.

The project, developed by Ørsted and Eversource Energy (NYSE:ES), will consist of 65 Siemens Gamesa turbines of 11 MW each. The same turbines were deployed at the recently completed South Fork Wind.

When completed, expected in 2026, Revolution Wind will provide 400 MW of power to Rhode Island and 304 MW to Connecticut.

Installation of the foundations is also progressing, with over three-quarters already in place.

Three New England ports are involved in the construction of the wind farm, which sits 15 miles (24 km) south of the Rhode Island coast and 32 miles southeast of the Connecticut coast. The project is next to Ørsted and Eversource’s South Fork Wind. The Danish developer recently broke ground on another neighboring project, Sunrise Wind.
