Romania’s Altex Group announced on Tuesday it has invested over 2.3 million euro ($2.46 million) in renewable energy projects for its operations.

The funds were mainly used for the development of solar panels projects and for the purchase of energy efficient equipment for stores and logistics centres, Altex Group said in a press release.

"Over the past two years, the Altex Group has been prioritising the production and use of renewable energy, and this has materialised in a significant number of solar panels, over 7,000 in total, which have been deployed to our units. We will not stop here, as we aim all our stores and warehouses to be powered by renewable energy," Altex Romania commercial director Edvin Abdulachim said.

Other photovoltaic projects are currently being implemented in Altex locations in Suceava, Brasov, Slatina, Turda, Braila, Galat, Ploiesti, and Media Galaxy Brasov.

Established in 2000, Altex Group includes electronics retailers Altex Romania and Media Galaxy, which employ over 4,000 in 125 stores countrywide.
