Romania's Hidroelectrica sells 919,800 MWh of electricity on local mkt

Romania's largest hydropower producer Hidroelectrica said on Wednesday it sold 919,800 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity for a combined 153 million lei ($47.3 million/34.3 million euro) on the domestic energy market operated by OPCOM.

The company sold the energy via several auctions held on April 8 at an average price of 166.58 lei per MWh, it said in a statement.

The power producer will deliver the electricity between May 1 and April 30, 2015.

On April 3 and 4, Hidroelectrica sealed 29 contracts under which it sold 615,650 MWh of electricity for 105 million lei.

The company said it has already sold the entire volume of electricity it expects to produce this year, which amounts to 13.8 terawatt hours (TWh).

Hidroelectrica was placed back under reorganisation procedure in February. It exited insolvency proceedings on June 26, 2013, one year after being declared insolvent.

Romania's government owns 80.06% of the company and property restitution fund Fondul Proprietatea owns the remaining.
