Romania to sign first CfD contracts by end-2024
Nov 06, 2024 9:48 CESTRomania's energy production fell by 7.9% year-on-year to 18.6 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE) in the first eleven months of 2016, provisional data from the country's statistics office, INS, showed on Thursday.
Energy imports in the country rose 10.5% on the year to 11.4 million TOE in the January-November period.
Romania's own electricity output plus the country's imports fell 0.3% year-on-year to 63 TWh in the first eleven months of 2016.
The country’s electricity exports in the January-November period of 2016 dropped 19.2% yera-on-year, while imports rose 2.6% to 3.4 TWh.
Thermal power plants generated 23.6 TWh in the 11 months through November, 6.6% less than the year before, while hydroelectric power output rose 18% to 18.2 TWh.
The production of the country's sole nuclear power plant Cernavoda fell 3.3% on the year to 10.2 TWh.
Electricity, generated from wind farms in the first eleven months of 2016, decreased 13.1% to 5.7 TWh.
Photovoltaic power stations generated 1.7 TWh in the January-November period of 2016, down 7.4% in comparison with the year before.
Final electricity consumption in Romania rose by an annual 3.7% to 49.9 TWh.
Romania produced 3.3 million TOE of crude oil, down 4.5% on the year, and 3.8 million TOE of coal, down 10.2%. The country also produced 6.8 million TOE of natural gas, down 13.5% down year-on-year.
TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.
