Romania's Oradea city to build 64.8 mln lei (14.2 mln euro) geothermal station

The municipality of Oradea, northwestern Romania, will build a 64.8-million-lei ($17.7 million/14.2 million euro) geothermal facility to supply heat and hot water, the economy ministry said on Tuesday.

The project is aimed at cutting the use of coal for heating by turning to renewable energy sources.

Oradea will receive a grant of up to 51.1 million lei for the project under the EU's priority axis 4, supporting investments in new energy installation using renewable energy sources, the ministry said in a statement.
