Russian nuclear energy corporation Rosatom has sealed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for the development and construction of a 100-MW wind farm in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The pact with the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund was signed by the company’s NovaWind JSC subsidiary, the nuclear group said on Wednesday without providing details about the size of the proposed investment.

NovaWind has committed to installing turbines at a site in the Issyk-Kul region of northeastern Kyrgyzstan where plans are already in progress for the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels. According to the statement, the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund has received applications for seven renewable projects that will collectively add 500 MW of wind, solar and hydropower capacity in the specific region.

NovaWind already has three wind farms with a combined capacity of roughly 1 GW operating across three Russian regions. Its parent company said it aims to have 1.7 GW of installed wind power capacity by 2027.
