The US was again the source of the majority of power purchase agreement (PPA) announcements in the last two weeks, but we also saw exciting updates from offshore wind projects in Europe and Asia.

-- EDF Renewables, JEA ink 250-MW solar PPA in Florida

EDF Renewables North America has agreed to sell the output of the 250-MW Jacksonville 5 solar complex in Florida to regional utility JEA. Read more..

-- EDPR, Microsoft strike PPAs for 125 MW of US wind power

EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) announced it has signed two PPAs under which it will sell wind power to Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT). It will supply the tech giant with electricity from the 125-MW Timber Road IV wind park located in Paulding County, Ohio state. Read more..

Greece will open bidding in its next renewable energy tender on April 15, targeting 600 MW of wind and solar projects, the country’s Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) announced. Read more..

-- Ørsted signs corporate PPA for UK offshore wind

UK utility Northumbrian Water Ltd will be buying power from the 573-MW Race Bank offshore wind farm under a 10-year contract with Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED). The corporate PPA, the first of its kind in the UK, is for about 100 GWh per year. Read more..

Canada-based Northland Power Inc (TSE:NPI) has signed a PPA for the 300-MW Hai Long 2A wind project off Taiwan, the first of three schemes that will create an over 1,000-MW complex. Read more..
