Australian renewable energy company Zen Energy is to supply the government of the state of South Australia with renewable energy under a 10-year PPA. The contract includes power from the 280-MW solar park at Cultana near Whyalla and a 100-MW battery storage facility near Port Augusta. Read more..

Chinese papermaker XSD International Paper Sdn Bhd has signed a PPA with NEFIN Group to secure 9.2 MW of solar for its planned paper factory in the Malaysian state of Kedah. Read more..

Norwegian state-owned energy company Statkraft AS signed a PPA with German renewables developer BayWa r.e to source electricity from its 41.7-MW Tordesillas solar farm project in Spain. Read more..

Australia’s Southern Cross Energy (SCE) and BHP Billiton Nickel West Pty Ltd have extended an existing off-take deal for electricity coming from a 245-MW portfolio of SCE in Western Australia, while also adding an option for renewables. Read more..

Clean Power Alliance (CPA) announced a request for offers (RfO) as part of which it seeks to add more renewables and storage capacity to its portfolio. Canadian power producer Capital Power Corp (TSE:CPX) has clinched three power off-take deals for the output of 160 MW of solar projects it is developing in North Carolina. Read more..

-- Corp deals in US to bring up to 72 GW of new wind, solar in next decade

Between 44 GW and 72 GW of wind and solar capacity will be added in the US in the period 2021-2030 as a result of off-take deals signed by corporations, IHS Markit projects.

Corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) or similar contracts will account for 20% of the new utility-scale renewables capacity installed in the coming decade, according to the report “Corporate U.S. Renewable Procurement Outlook: Optimism Amid a Pessimistic Year”. Read more..
