Enbridge to move ahead with 815-MW solar project in Texas
Nov 01, 2024 16:55 CESTUS renewables developer rPlus Energies has secured Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META) as the power off-taker for a 125-MW solar park in Idaho under a long-term deal that will support the Facebook owner's nearby data centre.
The power purchase agreement (PPA) was signed with utility company Idaho Power, which has a separate arrangement with the technology giant for the delivery of electricity, rPlus said on Tuesday. The long-term deal is tied to the Pleasant Valley Solar 2 project that rPlus developed through the Clean Energy Your Way construction programme of Idaho Power.

The photovoltaic (PV) farm will be built in Ada County as an expansion of the 200-MW Pleasant Valley Solar 1, now majority-owned by Matrix Renewables. The first-stage park is currently under construction and is expected to go online in early 2025. Pleasant Valley Solar 2 is planned to enter construction late this year.
Both solar parks will feed their output into Idaho Power’s grid and support the operations of Meta’s data centre in Kuna.
The PPA for Pleasant Valley Solar 1 was signed by rPlus and Idaho Power in May 2023.
