Poland’s R.Power Renewables announced on Wednesday it has acquired shares in certain firms holding the rights to 21.4 MWp of construction-ready solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Portugal.

Located in the municipalities of Lagos, Macao, and Vila Franca de Xira, the solar projects are either in the shovel-ready state or already under construction and should be capable of generating 42.9 GWh of clean energy per year once completed.

R.Power purchased the shares from firms owned by Portuguese capital group Gesto-Energia. With this new addition, the Polish company now has 92 MWp of projects in Portugal with secured connection conditions.

R.Power recently put into operation an 8.4-MWp PV farm in Portugal's Evora City as well as set up a joint venture with Spanish renewables developer Elawan Energy to develop 2 GWp of Italian solar projects.
