PNE wins 24 MW of onshore wind projects in German auction
Sep 19, 2024 8:35 CESTInstallation has started of the foundations for Ørsted A/S’ (CPH:ORSTED) 253-MW Gode Wind 3 and 913-MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind projects in the German North Sea, as announced on Monday.
Over the coming months, Jan De Nul Group's newest crane vessel, Les Alizes, will install a total of 107 monopile foundations, including one offshore substation foundation, for the two wind projects. The vessel arrived in the Dutch Eemshaven at the end of June, where it loaded the first monopiles before heading to the construction site. Gode Wind 3 got its first foundation on Friday. Steelwind and Bladt Industries A/S were tasked with manufacturing the foundations, which connect directly to the wind turbines without transition pieces.
Both wind farms will be built simultaneously and will be equipped with 11-MW Siemens Gamesa turbines.
Expected to be commissioned 2024 and 2025, respectively, Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 will increase Ørsted’s installed offshore wind capacity in Germany to about 2.5 GW.
