PGE, Ørsted lease Gdansk terminal for 1.5-GW Baltica 2 wind project
Sep 16, 2024 16:04 CESTPolish energy producer ZE PAK SA (WSE:ZEP) and a unit of offshore wind major Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED) got antitrust approval to set up five joint ventures (JVs) to deal with offshore wind projects, Poland's competition regulator UOKIK said today.
According to UOKiK, the JVs will carry out preparatory works for the construction of offshore wind farms. Their activities will involve applying for location permits, and specifying the conditions for the use of artificial islands, structures and devices in Polish areas.
The partnership of Ørsted and Polish ZE PAK dates back to late 2021 when they set up a 50/50 joint venture to take part in the upcoming auctions for seabed leases in the Polish Baltic Sea. In March 2022, they submitted their first joint application for location permits.
In the Baltic Sea, Ørsted is already developing the 2.5-GW Baltica Offshore Wind Farm with Polish utility PGE (WSE:PGE), which will be delivered in two stages -- Baltica 3 and Baltica 2.
