Sep 11, 2024 13:09 CEST(ADPnews) - Mar 21, 2011 - German utility RWE AG (ETR:RWE) last Thursday said its first two offshore installation ships have been launched at the beginning of March.
The construction of the vessels took seven months, or one month less than scheduled.
The ships, which will be fully completed in the autumn, will be able to transport up to four offshore wind turbines of the multi-megawatt class and at the same time install them in more than 40-metre-deep waters.
At the end of 2010 RWE's unit -- RWE Innogy GmbH ordered the construction of another two offshore installation ships to the Korean shipyard, each costing some EUR 100 million (USD 141.6m).
The first of them is to be ready this autumn and after that will participate in the completion of "Nordsee Ost" wind farm with power capacity of 295 MW, scheduled for 2013.
