Infener to set up 20-MW green hydrogen hub in Germany
Sep 17, 2024 14:59 CESTRWE AG (ETR:RWE) has ordered two 100-MW electrolysers from Linde Engineering for a green hydrogen production plant that will be built at the site of its gas-fired power plant in Lingen, northwest Germany.
The two electrolysers are part of RWE's plan to have an electrolysis capacity of 300 MW in Lingen by 2026 as part of the GET H2 initiative.

The two proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers that will be installed in Lingen will use renewable energy to produce hydrogen for industrial off-takers. The commissioning of the first electrolyser is planned for 2024 and the second will go online in 2025.
RWE has applied for funding under the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) scheme for the project and is now awaiting approval by the EU Commission to receive financing from Germany's federal government and the state of Lower Saxony where the production site will be located.
With GET H2, the Essen-based energy group and its partners seek to support the construction of a national hydrogen infrastructure and the development of a powerful European hydrogen market.
Overall, the German power major aims to have at least 2 GW of electrolysis capacity for green hydrogen by the end of this decade.
