Battolyser Systems raises EUR 30m in Series A funding round
Sep 12, 2024 11:35 CESTGerman energy group RWE AG (ETR:RWE) has started the construction of an ultra-fast battery storage system with an installed capacity of 7.5 MW and a storage capacity of 11 MWh on the site of its power plant in Moerdijk, the Netherlands.
The facility will be able to provide or absorb electricity within milliseconds, RWE said on Monday.
The storage system will be part of the solutions for OranjeWind, a Dutch offshore wind project by RWE and French energy major TotalEnergies that also integrates electrolysers, smart charging stations for electric vehicles, e-boilers, and battery storage facilities.
As part of the Moerdijk storage project, RWE will install lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries in three shipping containers. The system will be linked to the high-voltage grid via an existing connection. The facility will be commissioned at the end of 2024 after which it will go through a two-year pilot phase.
The project in Moerdijk is the second battery storage system to be built by RWE in the Netherlands after the company started in February the construction of a 35-MW/41-MWh facility in Eemshaven.
