Poland's northern Pomeranian province has initiated issuing a permit for laying a 220 kV cable line to export power from the 350-MW F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind farm of German energy group RWE AG (ETR:RWE).

The cable line with optical fibre routes and accompanying infrastructure will go from the offshore wind farm to the end of the subsea drilling, the Pomeranian administration said on Tuesday.

The announcement aims to inform the relevant central and local governmental bodies as well as the owners and users of the areas involved in the project of the possibility of submitting within 14 days applications, comments or reservations on the case.

In February, the Pomeranian office made a decision on the site of the onshore connection for the facility, covering the construction of a substation in the municipality of Redzikowo, technical infrastructure and connection to the national grid.

The Baltic II offshore wind farm is a project in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea over 50 km from the shore, north of the town of Ustka, where a service station will be built. In 2021, the project secured a contract for difference (CfD) and an environmental permit.
